DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Main responsibility is an Assistant to the Miller.

• Operation of the pellet mill and feed systems.

• Setup treatment and streams for each order and change flour tanks as required.

• Evaluate flour, bran and purifier streams, report any problems or improvements.

• Work assigned purifiers by the schedule, assist in minor maintenance and repairs.

• Run and monitor hammer mill screenings system and change hammer mill screens as required.

• Perform all required sifter and roll repairs.

• Must train and qualify for the Miller to fill in for vacations.

• Other duties as may be assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of all product streams and ability to determine sifter condition.

• Ability to switch the feed system for pelleting and adjust the pellet mill as needed.

• Ability to setup whole wheat mill streams for whole wheat flour.

• Ability to weigh product and determine production yields, fill in necessary reports.

• Ability to perform falling number tests and NIR checks.

• Must be able to work overtime during maintenance and repair days.

• Ability to understand and carry out complex verbal, written and numeric instructions.

• Individual must be physically able to perform duties assigned him/her, willing to cooperate, and be able to anticipate duties without being informed continually.
